Madrid Stringing Team!

Say “Hello” to my friends on the Babolat Stringing Team now working the Madrid tournament!

Babolat Stringing Team
Madrid 2025

The team has strung over 3000 racquets so far! The first few days of a major tournament are very busy and while the later days may not as busy it is never boring!

As you can see, Eric, the man in the front is very excited about this team!

Eric and Carine, the lady peaking around the left corner of the picture, enjoy visiting the World Headquarters of Racquet Quest when they can and have been very helpful with new ideas.  We use their incredibly accurate testing system several times every day for measuring “tip”and “end” weight of incoming racquets.

FYI, the Wine Map of France is in the World Headquarters of Racquet Quest, LLC, not the Madrid stringing room!

International Visitor

The World Headquarters was happy to have Mr. Randy StPierre, from beautiful, cold, and wet (his words) Sheffield, England, where he operates Precision Stringing Services.

Having been in the business for a long time, we have much to discuss. Of particular interest is string and racquets and how we can make better decisions for our clients when asked.

The good news is that we are being asked more than before

Answer
. The question is, before what?  The answer is before polyester!

I have, for a long time, believed the game is going to change to suit the string just like it did when polyester arrived in a big way!  Polyester requires a lot of energy from the player because it does not provide much based on its stiffness.  So, what if strings begin to change back to softer, more energetic properties?  The game will adapt to these changes, and everything will be fine.

Anyway, thank you, Randy, for stopping by the World Headquarters!

Goodbye, Russell

Our Friend Russell Williams succumbed to his three (3) year battle with ALS on the 29th of March.

I include an obituary for Russell because it includes a link to support the University of Florida ALS research program.

Russell was an avid tennis player, as he was by all accounts quite good. We have forty (40) of his sixty (60) or so Babolat Pure Control racquets that he loved so much. Russell kept the racquets in top shape, so he would never consider switching!

Sophie, Russells’ daughter, is quite an accomplished tennis player and will be going to UF, where she has signed to play tennis!

Russell Willams Obituary

Goodbye, our friend!

Barbara planted a Reed Begonia for Russell.  If you are near The Leu Botanical Garden in Orlando you can find Russell’s begonia in the White Garden.

“I planted a white reed begonia in the White Garden.  We will watch it grow and flower and think of all of you.”
